Mini yoga retreat! πŸŒΊπŸ¦‹πŸ”†πŸŒΏ

This weekend I spent a day with five lovely ladies on a Bali-style yoga retreat. Prior to booking, inner voice #1 said: ‘It sounds wonderful but it’s a bit expensive.’ Then voice #2 snapped back:

What are you talking about, it equates to a week’s worth of drinking money and you NEVER batted an eyelid then. Stop being so miserly! This is what you’re passionate about, just do it!!!’

Suffice to say, voice #2 won. This is largely the point of my post today. If you are thinking about quitting drinking or have quit drinking, the money you’ll have for other stuff (or to save) is mind blowing. There are cool little apps like Nomo Sobriety Tracker that counts your days and running $ saves, based on your average weekly booze bill. It also shows your productivity gains … I have 8 days in my 7 day week now thanks to no time wasted at the pub or lying in bed hungover. Today is day 427 for me.

Anyway, what I wanted to encourage you to think about is looking after yourself when you’re booze free. Sure, the gift of being alacoholfree and looking after ourselves is gift enough. But if you fancy a little treat now and again, don’t be stingy – just do it. We spent money hand over fist as a drinker and seldom questioned it. Rather, we normalized and rationalized it.

These days, we’re much better off without alcohol in our lives – so I’m a firm believer in the odd ‘gift-to-self’ when the opportunity arises.

We had a fab day on the yoga retreat. We got a yummy breakfast and lunch that was gluten free, dairy free and nightshade free. We kicked the day off with yoga on the water’s edge, in a quiet, secluded spot. We had a nutrition session after breakfast then a dedicated posture and sequencing workshop until lunchtime. To top off the day, we sniffed our way through a long list of delicious essential oils by DoTerra. This left us feeling and smelling amazing!

Here are a few pics from our day. Enjoy 🌸🌸🌸

  1. I just took a solo trip and while not my sober-versary, it was still something I did for me (oooo, but I am close to my 3.5 year anniversary!) Thought of you since I actually took a trip! πŸ˜€ Ha ha, and it was probably cost about 2-3 weeks worth of what I used to spend on alcohol. πŸ˜€

  2. Once again, stunning photos! What a beautiful spot for a retreat – you have me convinced to attend one of these. Now just to find one. I’m on the hunt for certain! Thanks for sharing this.

  3. I LOVE the photos. And I agree with you completely — it’s so important to treat yourself once you’ve given up your main “treat.” The alcohol makes you think you’re undeserving, so what better way to counter that thinking than to act as if you’re worthy of all the good things? πŸ’•
